Trail History

Historic mining cabin and Osgood Quarry in 1930's.  It is believed the Osgood quarry was the source in the 1890's of the marble for the Colorado capitol's floors and stairs.

Vintage barn and historic mining cabin in 2000's.

The marble quarry trail was originally built in the early 1900's by the historic quarry operators and used as an electric tramway for hauling marble stone into the Town of Marble.

The old tramway in the 1930's.

Many iron artifacts from the electric tramway are still in the marble cliff adjacent to the trail.

Historically at the footbridge location., the quarry operated a funicular tramway, the Peavine Tramway, to haul marble down to the trail area from the quarry.

The property owners' private access trestle bridge commemorates the historic tramway's style.

The historic quarry operation load out area.

Located on the east side of Yule Creek today are marble blocks mined from the historic quarry operations of the early 1900's.

The historic marble quarry operations used the Yule Lode as its load out area for the electric tramway.

Today this former load out area has been covered by modern debris of the active quarry operations.
